Dual Bay Substation Construction

New construction of a 138kV Dual Bay Substation was completed in Monaca, Pennsylvania, a greenfield site, consisting of new concrete foundations, Trenwa duct system, ground grid, steel fabrication and installation, H-Frame structure fabrication and installation, new buss work, new CT’s and PT’s, SF6 switches, capacitor banks, and setting a new prefabricated power control building. The project included cabling from the new 138kV – 13.8kV transformers to the new switch gear in the new power control building.  The project also included new underground distribution cabling from the power control building to various existing 13.8kV substations throughout the plant.  The project provided a redundant infrastructure through the dual bay configuration and delivered a modernized high-voltage facility designed to enhance system reliability, increase capacity, and support long-term operational demands of our industrial customer.
