Our team successfully completed a high-voltage distribution installation to provide electrical service to a customer’s frac water pump. This project was classified as a utility installation and required overhead pole line construction and underground distribution to extend medium-voltage service to a remote frac water pump. The scope included setting new primary metering and take-off poles, installing crossarms and insulators, stringing and sagging primary conductors, and installing a primary metering system in accordance with First Energy-Ohio Edison specifications and industry standards. The project also included installing over a half a mile of underground distribution cable, including conduit duct bank, hand holes, 15kV cables, and high voltage terminations. We also furnished and installed a 12,470V – 480V pad mount transformer near the water pump and installed a soft-starter and control wiring in the pump vault to control the pump.
Given the rural location and working around a manmade lake, the project demanded careful planning, coordination, and specialized rigging and wire pulling equipment. Our crews managed material logistics, equipment access, and construction sequencing to maintain efficiency while meeting all inspection and compliance standards. The completed installation provides dependable, long-term electrical infrastructure to support critical natural gas well fracturing operations, demonstrating our capability to deliver high-voltage distribution projects safely, efficiently, and to utility provider standards.
